NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – The bedbug problem which required the fumigation of three N train subway cars may be more extensive than originally thought.
The New York Daily News reported Thursday that bedbugs were found in a fourth car and in the lockers of two N train crew workers, as well as at a conductor’s home.
The critters were found in the seat cushions of the train cabs, where motormen and conductors sit.
That’s not providing much comfort to riders who spoke with 1010 WINS’ John Montone.
“When you sit down, you attract them. So if you don’t sit down, may you can not attract them, so maybe I won’t sit down when I get on the train,” a rider named Jeff told Montone.
“It’s disgusting, I mean we sit on these chairs every day and then we have to go home, and I sit on my bed when I go home,” another rider told Montone.
The Transit Workers Union is calling on the MTA to fumigate the entire line, Montone reported.
