NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – N for nasty!

The Metropolitan Transit Authority confirmed Wednesday that three separate N trains were taken out of service after bedbugs were found on board.

All three have since been fumigated.

The critters were found in the seat cushions of the train cabs, where motormen and conductors sit.

Two of the trains were taken out of service on Sunday. The third was discovered Tuesday.

The good news is that bedbugs on subways is a comparatively easy problem to solve, Jennifer Erdogan, director the bedbug division at exterminator company Bell Environmental Services, told 1010 WINS.

“The fact that there is no cloth in subways may make the subways a little bit easier to treat, in that you’re not dealing with large tufted areas like sofas have,” Erdogan said. “But the bugs can live there as well. They basically hide in cracks and crevices.”

The MTA says it is doing spot checks of crew rooms at the Coney Island rail yard as well.
